St. George's in person worship update
The Diocese has provided instructions to parishes on steps that need to be completed before in-person worship services can be held. Based on these directions and on our upcoming service schedule, St. Georges will be aiming to have its first in-person services at 8 and 10am on Sunday July 4th. It is our intent to have these services outdoors, in much the same manner as we did last year. We also plan to alternate between offering in-person outdoor services at both 8 and 10 one week, with Zoom services at both 8 and 10am the following week. Therefore, services on July 4th will be in-person, July 11th will be via Zoom, July 18th in-person and so on. As there is significant background work required to hold an in-person service, this alternating schedule helps keep this effort on staff and volunteers at a manageable level. More information on how to register for in-person services and what to expect once you arrive will be available over the coming weeks. We anticipate that all in-person services at St. Georges will be held outdoors throughout the summer. As autumn approaches, we will evaluate Diocesan direction and conditions to determine when we can safely move services indoors. A Conversation of Peace against IslamophobiaSaturday, June 19, 2021 This is an opportunity for the Victoria Christian and Muslim communities to come together for a conversation about peace, racism and reconciliation. This event is in response to the killing of the Afzaal family in London Ontario. It has been been organized by two Vancouver School of Theology students and friends, one Muslim and One Christian with the help of our faith communities. As neither of our faith communities are currently meeting in person this event will happen on Zoom. Speakers from both the Christian and Muslim communities will present, followed by a time of conversation and prayer. We ask that you bring a candle to light. All are welcome! Please invite friends. |

Seeking Housing
St Barnabas Church, at Begbie and Belmont, is preparing to welcome two interim priests-in-charge while their rector and his wife are on sabbatical. Father James Robinson and his wife will be with us for the month of September, and are looking for a rental or housesitting arrangement for that month. Bishop James Cowan, formerly of this diocese, his wife Annette, and Rory (a small, clean 13-year-old dog) are looking for a furnished, preferably two-bedroom apartment to rent either from September or October to June. They would also be happy with a long-term house-sitting option. Please contact Kieran Wilson (admin@stbarnabaschurch.ca) or Heidi Teel (heidi.w.teel@gmail.com) with any information or ideas. |
