Territorial Acknowledgment
St George’s Cadboro Bay respectfully acknowledges the land we stand and pray on. The soil here holds the history and footsteps of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples. Monthly OutreachDiocesan North Island Ministries During the month of May your Social Justice and Outreach Team [SJOT] will be bringing focus on the North Island Ministries. This was the focus of Bishop Ana during her December Fund Raising Dinner. The Bishop spoke about what she had seen in her travels across the Diocese. She shared some stories about churches in the north of the island, which have a particular charisma for outreach and reconciliation. All funds raised from that evening were directed to ministry in the north of our diocese. Following are a couple of sites to visit on the Diocesan website: https://faithtides.ca/gwasala-nakwaxdaxw-nations-building-hope-for-the-future/ https://bc.anglican.ca/diocesan-ministries/reconciliation-beyond “As a Diocese we seek to live out our baptismal covenant to respect the dignity of every human being and to safeguard the integrity of God's Creation. We understand ourselves to be at the beginning of the long road to Truth and Reconciliation. Our churches seek to welcome all of God's children as beloved.” St George’s Social Justice and Outreach Team asks for your support and prayers for this Diocesan Ministry. For more infomation visit:

Deconsecration AnnouncementA Service and Lunch - Saturday, June 7th - 11am After much discernment about the path forward for St. Dunstan’s, Gordon Head, the Parish Council has taken the hard, holy, and faithful step of asking the bishop to deconsecrate the building in preparation for its sale. On Saturday, June 7, Bishop Anna will lead a service celebrating the decades of vibrant ministry at St. Dunstan’s and deconsecrate the space for its use for other purposes. We know that God is not contained within any of our parish buildings, and at the same time, they are places where we have encountered God in both ordinary times and special days, in worship and in one another. We encourage all members of the diocese to join with the people of St. Dunstan’s in this day of celebration and grief. The service will take place at St. Dunstan’s at 11:00am and will be followed by a catered lunch (registration required). Clergy are invited to vest and process. The color for the day is white. Please register if you wish to attend the lunch so we can make sure there is enough food provided for all. Registration is not required to attend the service. The deadline to register for the lunch is May 19th. |
