Wonderful Wednesdays Book Study

Wonderful Wednesdays Book Study

led by Rev. Christine Conkin

Wonderful Wednesdays are back!

"Liminal" is a word to describe the space between here and there, the time between this and that. It can be a space and time of uncertainty, doubt, and perhaps, anxiety. How can we navigate our way through?

During four sessions of "Wonderful Wednesdays" this fall, we will explore ideas and practices for liminal time, guided by Susan Beaumont's book "How to Lead When You Don't Know Where You're Going." Copies are available at the church this coming Sunday, or you can order your own copy at Bolen Books (click here) or Amazon (click here)

There will be 2 options: 10am Zoom and 7pm in-person on Wed. Oct 27, and Nov 3, 10 and 17.

Watch for registration information next week.

She lives with her partner, daughter and two lovely schnauzers. In her spare time, you will find her raising her daughter, hiking with the dogs, teaching cardio dance, and so much more!

Paige Arden, Youth Leader

Paige Arden, Youth Leader

Paige Arden (she/her) is in her final year of an undergraduate degree in History and Spanish at UVic. Having moved down-island from Nanaimo, she loves exploring new beaches. Her interests include Latin American literature, abstract painting, and learning how to pickle vegetables. She is passionate about increasing accessibility and youth engagement within the nonprofit sector, and building community. Paige is always down for a chat about obscure history, ghost stories, or fun trivia!

Brennan Williams, Young Adult Leader

Hi, my name is Brennan Williams. I am a second year student at UVic and I am super excited to be co-leading the Young Adults group this year. Last year I attended the Young Adults grouped and I loved the community so much I decided to become more involved. My favourite activities include sports trivia and much more.  I can’t wait to make friends and have tons of fun this year!

Clean up of Church Storage Areas

As we move back into more "normal" worship and operations, and as our relationship with Arts Calibre increases, it has become apparent that we need to re-organize and streamline many of our storage areas.  So, a work party is being organized for Saturday 30th October at 10am.  We'll go through some storage areas, make decisions about what to keep and what to part company with, and where our stuff should best be kept given how we currently operate.  If you can help out, please contact Gary Fisher (garycfisher@shaw.ca, 236-464-5748). Come prepared for dusty but fulfilling work!   People having vehicles that are able to transport no longer useful items to Hartland landfill would be most welcome.

Memorial Flowers

It has been so wonderful to be back in our Church and the lovely flowers have made it so welcoming! We would love to be able to continue having them but, at this time, Chancel Guild does not have funds to purchase them and the beautiful dahlias in the garden will soon be finished for the year. Please consider donating to the flower fund. You can have flowers placed to commemorate a special occasion or as a memorial and a notice will be placed in the bulletin for you. We would also be very appreciative of any undesignated donations to help us with purchasing flowers. Please contact Sandra Browning Moore for more information.

VOLUNTEER NEEDED: Returnables pick up from the Orchard

Hello! We are looking for a volunteer or two to pick up can and bottle recycling from The Orchard residence and take to the Bottle Depot. A big thanks to Nicole Gauvin and Leslie Flynn who had taken this on in the past year and have raised over $1000 since starting!! This money is added to our Victoria Anglican Youth account at the Bottle Depot and helps to offset some of our youth program costs in the Diocese. We would really appreciate if a couple of people could take on this task. Please contact the Church Office if you are available: 250-472-2090.

Volunteer needs to have their own vehicle to escort recycling to the Bottle Depot.

Time commitment: usually takes about an hour with two people every 3 weeks.
