Territorial Acknowledgment

St George’s Cadboro Bay respectfully acknowledges the land we stand and pray on. The soil here holds the history and footsteps of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples. On the traditional territory of the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples, we uphold the hopeful and healing spirit of reconciliation. We promise to walk with truth and love in those footprints that connect and ground us.

Celebrate fall

Sunday, September 10

THIS Sunday, September 10, we will celebrate the arrival of the fall program season with hot dogs, ice cream and "picnic" games in our "front yard" after our 10am service. Donations of finger foods to share would be welcome.  Anyone who would like to help can contact Joy at 250 889 7000 or joyandterrycarroll@gmail.com

See you there!

Coffee and Conversation

The Women’s group will meet on Saturday, September 9 in the Narthex at 10.00 am. Our speaker will be Jannie Hofmeyr who will talk about Comparative Religion. This was what he taught at university in South Africa. We have light refreshments, muffins, cheese, crackers and fruit. This is a time to build relationships. Please join us.

Orange Shirt Day

Orange Shirt Day

Orange Shirt Day: Orange Shirt Day is Saturday, September 30. We will be celebrating this day on Sunday, September 24th. We suggest you wear your orange shirt. If you do not have an orange shirt, we will be selling them on Sunday, September 10 and September 17. The cost is $25.00 in cash only. Each shirt says “Every Child Matters”. Phyllis Webb proudly wore her new orange shirt to Residential School on her first day as a young child. Her grandmother had purchased it for her. It was taken from her and she never saw it again. It represents the hurt and abuse children experienced at Residential School.

PWRDF Canada Emergency Response

PWRDF launches In-Canada Emergency Response Grant

In this year of unprecedented wildfires from coast to coast, including those currently forcing evacuations in the Northwest Territories and British Columbia, PWRDF is establishing a fund specifically for in-Canada emergency response. This new fund will allow us to respond quickly when a diocese asks us for support, rather than wait to raise funds for individual disasters. Dioceses can access the new In-Canada Emergency Fund by requesting short-, medium- and longer-term support.

Celebrating Leslie on the occasion of her ordination!

Party and gift

We look forward to celebrating Leslie and the occasion of her ordination to the sacred order of deacon. She has done much hard work, in her studies, in this parish of  St. George and beyond, to get to this moment.

If you would like to contribute to a gift and purse for Leslie, we will collect cash in the office. You can also donate online here, ensuring you click on "gift for Leslie." As this type of gift is not tax-receiptable, please don't include it as part of your regular envelope giving.

We will have a reception for Leslie after church on Sunday, September 17.

Intersections: A Dialogue Series

Intersections: A Dialogue Series

Wednesday's 10am, weekly from Sept 27 to Nov 8

Intersections: A Dialogue Series is an opportunity to engage with Challenging Racist ‘British Columbia’: 150 Years and Counting (CRBC). Produced as part of the commemorations of 150 years since BC joined Canada, this open-access, multimedia resource documents how the recent cycle of anti-racist activism in this province is part of a broader history of Indigenous, Black and other racialized communities challenging white supremacy for over 150 years. This seven-week series brings people together in intentional conversations to:

  • encounter our collective past
  • locate ourselves as participants in the ongoing story of this place
  • explore how to respond faithfully to the truths we find together

...so we can participate with God in restoring creation and affirming the dignity of all people.

A team of trained moderators from across our Diocese will offer will offer each of the seven sessions which are based on the information covered in the CRBC project, using video, song, prayer, self-refection exercises, readings and group discussions.

Dates:

27 Sept, 11 & 25 Oct and 8 Nov, 10AM at Saint Mary's

4 & 18 Oct, 8 Nov, 10 AM at St George's
