Territorial Acknowledgment

St George’s Cadboro Bay respectfully acknowledges the land we stand and pray on. The soil here holds the history and footsteps of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples. On the traditional territory of the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples, we uphold the hopeful and healing spirit of reconciliation. We promise to walk with truth and love in those footprints that connect and ground us.

Lent 2024: “Where did all the young people go?”

Lent 2024: “Where did all the young people go?”

Wednesday, February 28, 2024

For decades we’ve been wondering and worrying about our young people leaving our beloved church. For 4 Wednesday mornings this Lent, join Bp Anna and Rev Christine to explore the social, spiritual, religious and theological movements of the late 20th century. What happened in the wake of the great optimism of the 1960’s? Why haven’t any of the many approaches we’ve tried to engage young people over the decades worked in the long term? And finally, what are some of the emerging ideas and practices of 21st century Christianity and beyond? Where might we go from here?

Dates: Wed. Feb 28, March 6, 13, 20

Time: 9:45am - Coffee and light snacks; 10:00-11:30am program

Zoom option available.

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

Sunday, January 21, 2024

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is an annual ecumenical celebration. Christians around the world are invited to pray for the unity of all Christians, to reflect on scripture together, to participate in jointly-organized ecumenical services.

To share in this fellowship, a service will take place at Christ Church Cathedral in Victoria on Sunday, January 21 at 4:00 pm. Bishop Anna is presiding, and Bishop Gary of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Victoria is preaching.

All are welcome. A reception will follow.

Our ministry of prayer

Coming in 2024! At both our regular 8am and 10am services of worship, members of the parish offer intercessory prayer, or "prayers of the people." Joint Appeal for Gaza

Joint Appeal for Gaza

From Archbishops Hosam and Justin Welby

In the media over these past few weeks, we have watched the ongoing armed-conflict between the Hamas-led Palestinian militant groups and Israel from afar. Archbishop Justin Welby (the Archbishop of Canterbury) paid a solidarity visit to Jerusalem this past weekend in the aftermath of the conflict erupting, and immediately following the bombing of (the Anglican) Ahli Hospital in Gaza.

Together with Archbishop Hosam Elias Naoum (Bishop Coadjutor of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem) these two Archbishops have issued a Joint Appeal Letter, calling for prayers and donations not only for the hospital's vital work in Gaza, but also for the ministries throughout the Holy Land which are also being greatly affected by the war.

To that end, please find attached a joint appeal letter. There is also a situation update and a recent photograph of the two Archbishops in front of St. George's Cathedral. Anglicans around the world have been asked to disseminate the appeal letter with their photograph as widely as possible.

The PWRDF is also appealing for support of the hospital in Gaza. To learn more, CLICK HERE.

Thank you for passing along this information and for your prayers and support. We continue to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and for security for all who dwell in its lands.

PWRDF Gaza Hospital Emergency Appeal

PWRDF is a long-time partner of the al-Ahli Arab Hospital. On Tuesday, October 10, PWRDF announced an allocation of $30,000 to support additional staff needs during the war. Then on Sunday, a bomb strike seriously damaged the Ultrasound and Mammography wards on the upper floors. The funds were being transferred yesterday as news of the most recent attack was unfolding.

To support the work PWRDF is doing in Gaza, click the link below.
