Christmas at St. George'sJoin us for Christmas at St. George's! Tues. Dec 24 (Christmas Eve): 4pm Family-friendly Eucharist with live-action Christmas Story. (No Zoom) Tues. Dec 24 (Christmas Eve): 7pm Festive Eucharist for all (Zoom available) (link to bulletin here) Wed. Dec 25 (Christmas Day): 10am Beautifully simple Christmas Eucharist (No Zoom) Sun. Dec 29 (Christmas 1): 8am and 10am services as usual. (No Zoom) Wed. Jan 1, 2025 (New Year's Day): 3:00pm - "Celtic Music for Meditation" This is a drop-in event: come and go as you wish until about 4:15pm. Light refreshments available. OFFICE HOURS: Please note that the church office will be CLOSED Tuesday, Dec 24 through to Wednesday, Jan 1, re-opening with regular hours on Thursday, January 2. DONATIONS: To be eligible for 2024 tax receipt, donations must be delivered to the church by Dec. 31, 2024. Please deposit in our secure mailbox, which will be checked during the office closure. Decorating the church for ChristmasAs our usual decorating elves are traveling or otherwise unavailable this year, we need your help getting the church ready for the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services. This mainly involves assembling the manger / creche scene under the altar. It should be done after the 10am service on 22 December. We can have all necessary items and instructions in the Vestry Room ahead of time. All that is needed is for a few hands to assemble the scene. Celtic Music for Meditation New Year's DayAre you longing for some serenity after the busy Christmas rush? A moment to take in the beauty of the season and reflect on the cusp of a new year? Why not plan to join us for a relaxing afternoon of flute and harp music? This is a drop-in event: come in or go for whatever time you would like. There is no applause but you will be bathed in lovely music for an hour or so. Light refreshments will be available at the end. This is the perfect time to bring friends and family to join in on this beautiful moment. Denis Donnelly, harpist, is well known in his roles of conductor of Gettin’ Higher Choir, Soundings, and Wavelengths and is an authority on folk music. Lanny Pollet, flutist, is the retired flute professor and head of performance at UVic, and loves to explore this Celtic repertoire on various flutes. Sage Yoga Winter!Come join Sage in the Narthex for two more special, 1.5 hour sessions on Dec 21, and Jan 4. We will be diving into ways to expand your yoga practice. This is a part instruction, part yoga flow class suitable for beginners and regulars. Please bring a yoga mat and wear comfortable clothes. Pricing is on a sliding scale, either $15, $20, or $25. Apple Pie Sale SuccessThank you to all the volunteers who helped make the Pie Ministry so successful again this year. We donated the sum of $1835 to the Refugee Support ministry for social justice. Shelbourne Community Kitchen UpdateThe Shelbourne Community Kitchen invites you to Double Your Impact when you donate this month. For all of December, every dollar donated will be matched up to $15,000. With inflation and rising food costs, the need for food security has never been greater and we’re committed to providing fresh, dignified food support through our Pantry Program, Food Skills Programs, and Garden Programs. So far we have registered more than 300 new participants, including seniors, families, and newcomers for support this year.
