Territorial Acknowledgment

St George’s Cadboro Bay respectfully acknowledges the land we stand and pray on. The soil here holds the history and footsteps of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples. On the traditional territory of the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples, we uphold the hopeful and healing spirit of reconciliation. We promise to walk with truth and love in those footprints that connect and ground us.

Pastoral Care Conversation

Pastoral Care Conversation

Sunday, January 12 @ 11:30am

A Parish conversation about pastoral care and how we care for each other and those on the fringes will be held after coffee hour on Sunday January 12 at 11:30am. This is a follow-up to the discussion started at the Moving with the Winds of God retreat in November. All are welcome. Those who are interested are encouraged to review the summary from the initial conversation at the parish retreat prior to the meeting; it is on page 15 in the Journal of Proceedings here. Please note there will be further opportunities for involvement should you not be able attend this discussion.

Holden Evening Prayer

Holden Evening Prayer

Wednesday, January 15 @ 5pm

Holden Prayer Service continues at 5pm on January 15th. Join us for the contemporary sung service. NOTE: There will not be a dinner to follow.

Men's Breakfast

Men's Breakfast

Saturday, January 18 @ 8:30am

At our January 18th breakfast, Colin Tessier from Threshold Housing will be giving a presentation about Threshold Housing.

Threshold Housing opens doors for youth and prevents adult homelessness. Threshold serves youth at-risk-of or experiencing homelessness, aging out of care, or fleeing violence in the home. These young adults need a place to call home and people who believe in them. Threshold meets those needs by offering safe housing, community and support to help youth make heal, learn, grow and create brighter futures.

If you plan on attending, RSVP Bruce Winter @ labs4ever@gmail.com.

Parish Buildings and Grounds Conversation

Parish Buildings and Grounds Conversation

Wednesday, January 29 @ 2pm

A Parish conversation on our Buildings and Grounds will be held at 2PM on Wednesday 29 January, as a follow-up to the discussion started at the Moving with the Winds of God retreat in November. All are welcome. Parishioners are encouraged to review the Parish Depreciation Report HERE and Bishop Anna's letter on the proposed sale of St. Dunstan's land HERE prior to the meeting. This is the beginning of a Parish conversation on this topic. Those who are unable to attend this discussion should note that there will be further opportunities for your involvement.

Honoring and remembering our Veterans

Honoring and remembering our Veterans

St. George's Wreath

St. George's purchased a wreath to honour and remember our Veterans. As pictured above, it is now on display at the Provincial Cenotaph and will be there for the next week.

THANK YOU!

THANK YOU!

Your Social Justice and Outreach Team [SJOT] thank you for your support through 2024. On a monthly basis we will continue to feature worthy agencies in your 2025 Setting Sail.

  • We have continued to be a strong supporter of the Shelbourne Community Kitchen with weekly grocery donations filling a car trunk for delivery (pictured above).
  • Our December collection of clothing for Cool Aid was greatly appreciated by the staff that day, as they noted knitted hats, new socks and warm jackets for their clients (pictured below).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  • Through the Purdy Chocolate purchases we were able to donate $789.47 to the Back Pack Buddies agency that delivers bags of food to thousands of BC’s most vulnerable children.
  • The Refugee Fund request was embraced in true St George’s style as we raised $13,420. The apple pie fund raiser was a big part of that at $1,835!
This will enable the Refugee group, on behalf of St George’s, to continue to support Ruth and Tesfalem for the required full year.
Thank you, St George’s community for all the support!
