Search Team

Search Team

Greetings everyone. Your Search Team met with Barry Foster from the Diocesan office, and is at work revising our Parish Profile as one of the first steps in this process.

We represent the Parish as a whole, and want to include your thoughts and perspectives in answer to questions, such as:
  • What do we appreciate and love about St. George's?
  • What do we long for?
  • Where are we going, and where do we want to go?
How will we gather this information?  We together will:
  • Gather information from the youth of the Parish (Jaime Millar)
  • Discuss following the Feb 21 Zoom services: 8 am group as a whole, 10 am break out rooms
  • Hear from any and all Parishioners through existing cottage groups, by phone, writing or email to any of the Search Team members
  • Give feedback on a draft Parish Profile, upon its completion
Please reflect on your thoughts about the questions above, make some notes, and share your perspective as we dream together.

A few options will be offered to use this guide. There will be a full work booklet available for pick up at the parish office, or you can choose to download/print a smaller version that you can use along side a notebook or journal you have at home. Thank you!

Thank you!

Thank you for supporting the December/January clothing drive for The Dandelion
Society.

We are happy to say the project went well and many thanks goes to Marjorie for
coordinating and delivering items to Rev Al, to David and Christine for monitoring the
outdoor box, and to Vicky for making sure it all ran smoothly, and especially to all of
you for participating with donations.

We know Rev Al was most appreciative, particularly at this time of year.
****We collected 4 packed boxes of warm coats, rain coats, gloves,
toques, as well as several blankets and a sleeping bag. ****

Thank you for reaching out and helping this local agency.
Blessings from the Outreach Team.

Bishop Anna Greenwood-Lee to Offer Lenten Video Series

Bishop Anna Greenwood-Lee to Offer Lenten Video Series

February 17 marks the beginning of the 40 days of Lent. The word "Lent" can be traced to an Old English word "lecten" which is related to "lengthen" referring to the lengthening of days in the Spring season. It's a time for spiritual renewal and what some call a "spiritual spring." So we offer you this series, "Renew" consisting of eight short (2-minute) reflections by Bishop Anna Greeenwood-Lee during these 40 long days before Easter. The videos will be available on Twitter, Facebook and in the media section  of the website beginning Wednesday, February 17 and each Wednesday after that during the season.

Thomas Homer-Dixon - Tuesday, February 23, 2021

Our environment, economy, societies, cultures and institutions are changing dramatically - too often for the worse. Without radical new approaches, our planet will become poorer, more violent, more authoritarian.

Thomas Homer-Dixon offers an argument for reinvigorating our cognitive strengths and belief systems to affect urgent systemic change, and renew hope in a positive future for everyone on earth.

Thomas Homer-Dixon is Director of the Cascade Institute at Royal Roads University, and University Research Chair in the Faculty of Environment at the University of Waterloo. He specializes in the use of complexity science to examine threats to global security. His latest book is Commanding Hope.
