Territorial Acknowledgment
St George’s Cadboro Bay respectfully acknowledges the land we stand and pray on. The soil here holds the history and footsteps of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples. On the traditional territory of the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples, we uphold the hopeful and healing spirit of reconciliation. We promise to walk with truth and love in those footprints that connect and ground us. |

ADVENT PROJECT
As we know our local community has many areas of need, and your Social Justice and Outreach Team recently contacted The Cool Aid Society to ask in what way we could help. With women’s clothing being well supplied, and socks covered by other sources…. Their reply was that they were really in need of all sizes ….. · Men’s Gloves · Men’s Warm Jogging Pants · Men’s Hoodies · Men’s Winter Coats **We will start collecting these clothing items for The Cool Aid Society starting on the First Sunday in Advent** Your Social Justice and Outreach Team would like to see many of these items placed around the Narthex Christmas Tree over the Advent Season! If you are unable to participate in the clothing project, we will also have Cool Aid as our December outreach agency. Monetary donations can be made in the usual way, by placing the blue Outreach envelopes in the Offertory plate, or accessing the Church website and using Tithe.ly. Your Social Justice and Outreach Team will be taking the collected clothing items to Cool Aid at the end of Advent. Thank you for your support and prayers for this worthy cause.

December 2022 Outreach
Cool Aid's vision is a simple one... A community where no one is forced to sleep on the street or go hungry and everyone has the dignity that comes with home, health and connection. Cool Aids Guiding Principles are… Meet clients where they are at. Commit to anti-racism, decolonization and cultural humility. Approach each client with empathy. Practice integrity and mutual respect in all our relationships. Advocate for those we serve. Cool Aid has 19 properties in Victoria, Saanich & Langford. They provide more services, for more people who have been homeless or who are at risk, than any other organization in the CRD. For more in depth information about this agency please look at the website which is found above, and from which this information has been taken. The Social Justice and Outreach Team ask for your prayers and donations to support this worthy agency during the month of December. ************************ We will also be collecting clothing items to support Cool Aid during the Advent season. Further details can be found in Setting Sail.

Wonderful Wednesdays - Coming in 2023!Evening Zoom-only book study and morning discussion group For 3 Wednesdays in January (11, 18 & 25), you are invited to explore Christian faith in-person and/or online. At 9:45am, we gather at St. George's with tea, coffee and muffins, before engaging in faith-related discussion inspired and provoked by various contemporary Christian voices. This month we'll meet and reflect with speaker, writer, activist and artist Lisa Sharon Harper. No preparation required! At 6:30pm, join us online to discuss Brian McLaren's book, Do I Stay Christian? A Guide for the Doubters, the Disappointed, and the Disillusioned, in partnership with the Wisdom Centre. The book delves into contemporary Christian identity, combining "his own experience with that of thousands of people who have confided in him over the years to help readers make a responsible, honest, ethical decision about their religious identity." CLICK HERE to see a video introduction and to register (for free) and receive the zoom link. |

Bring food donations this Sunday! The Shelbourne Community Kitchen The Kitchen is focusing on healthy proteins with this round of item requests. They are asking St. George's to try and gather canned meat on their behalf. Turkey, chicken, and ham are all excellent but corned beef and spam are especially popular and work for many of the diverse folks they serve at the Kitchen. Thank you for anything you can help out with. |
