Territorial Acknowledgment
St George’s Cadboro Bay respectfully acknowledges the land we stand and pray on. The soil here holds the history and footsteps of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples. On the traditional territory of the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples, we uphold the hopeful and healing spirit of reconciliation. We promise to walk with truth and love in those footprints that connect and ground us. |

Marlon Farewell
As many of you already know, Marlon Narciso, our amazing Music Director of 12 years, will be leaving St George’s at the end of August. Marlon’s last 10:00 am service with us will be Sunday, August 25, following which there will be a champagne brunch in his honour. We would appreciate contributions of savoury and/or sweet festive brunch dishes, ready-to-go, like what you might serve on Christmas morning with your family. Please contact Signi (signi@telus.net) to let us know what you expect to bring. Festive drinks, along with tea and coffee, will be provided. We hope you will join us on this occasion as we give thanks to Marlon for his many musical contributions to St. George’s over the years and bid him farewell as he takes his leave from this community and embarks on the next stage of his life journey. |

Safe Church trainingSundays: September 8 & 22 The Safe Church program provides training to both clergy and lay volunteers to ensure our churches are places of safety from the harm of misconduct that can occur in situations when there is an imbalance of power. All employees and most volunteers in the diocese must complete Safe Church training every five years. Parishioners who must now complete this in-person hour-long training are being contacted directly. If you are not on the ‘must’ list but would like to review the training or are just curious, you are very welcome to attend either on September 8 or on September 22 in the Narthex after coffee following the 10 am service. You will watch a 35-minute video and then fill in a couple of forms, one of which is an authorisation for a mandatory Police Information Check (Criminal Records Review). To register or for more information, please email Jeanette Muzio at safechurch@stgeorgecadborobay.ca |
