Taizé Prayer at St Philip is renewed and a loved tradition returns monthly! All are welcome to St Philip Oak Bay for a candlelit service of song, silence, and contemplation, in the style of the Taizé Community, on the 4th Thursdays of the month at 7pm, starting in late September 2024:
Location: St Philip Anglican Church, 2928 Eastdowne Rd (at Neil)
Calling experienced singers:
Judith Slimmon (our music director for Taizé Prayer) and the existing Taizé ensemble at St Philip would like to invite you to join them in singing this beautiful, prayerful SATB music. It is helpful if you can sight-read music and hold one part while others are singing different parts. They are easy melodies to learn. There will be one rehearsal prior to each service. All parts are welcome! Contact Judith via the parish office admin@stphilipvictoria.ca or call 250-592-6823.

September music list
For those who want to refresh their musical memories or learn some new songs ahead of time, the September music list below is linked to 1) click on title for the online sheet music and audio of each part (S A T B) individually and all together, and 2) a YouTube recording with SATB singing, some with accompaniment and cantor verses. We'll be singing all songs in English this time.
All songs are from the 1991 Songs & Prayers from Taizé. All song texts will be printed in the leaflet. Song books (Assembly version, words and SATB music) will be available for use at the service for those who prefer to read music - and available for those who wish to buy their own copy afterwards for $15.
For real-world (not studio) recordings of many Taizé songs in the full liturgical context of a prayer service, tune in to Saturday Prayer from the Church of Reconciliation, streamed Saturday evenings here.
