Territorial Acknowledgment
St George’s Cadboro Bay respectfully acknowledges the land we stand and pray on. The soil here holds the history and footsteps of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples. On the traditional territory of the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples, we uphold the hopeful and healing spirit of reconciliation. We promise to walk with truth and love in those footprints that connect and ground us. |

Community Events FundFood. Fun. Friends. More food.
FUN FACT: Beginning next week, for the next SEVEN (7) weeks, you can have dinner at St. George's once a week!!!
From Shrove Tuesday pancakes (Feb 13), through weekly Wednesday night community dinners, and on to Maundy Thursday (March 28) when we commemorate the Last Supper, we have 7 different opportunities to eat together.
"How do we pay for all that?!?" You wonder?
Last year we initiated a funding model for our social and community events within and beyond the parish whereby we ask you to contribute to our "Community Events Fund" with a tax-receiptable gift. You may do so once per year, or on an on-going basis. This can be done by indicating so on your regular envelope or cheque, by using the "Community Events" envelopes (please include your regular envelope number) or online through the "donate" button on the website (please choose "Community Events" tab).
This approach allows us to offer generous hospitality to all who come through the doors and frees us from focusing our events on fundraising. Please invite your friends and neighbours to join us anytime, without asking for a little cash out of their pockets.
We are grateful for your presence and participation at St. George's, and we look forward to sharing a meal together.

Sunday Rostered MinistriesNew schedule coming soon! Our worship practice is based on the Greek term "leitourgia," which means "public work for the common good," or more simply "the work of the people." Liturgy is fundamentally a communal act. Worship is a "team sport"! There are numerous ways for you to be involved in "Sunday Ministries," at both 8am and 10am services, as: Greeters. Intercessors. Readers. Administrants. Offertory Supervisors. Counters. Healing Prayer Ministers. Liturgical Assistants. Technical Assistants. A manual with descriptions of each role is available by clicking below. The roster is ably 'constructed' by Gary and Darlene Fisher every few months, with the next schedule (beginning in March) in process now. Please contact them, or Christine, for further information and/or to get on the schedule! Maybe now is the time to try something new? Darlene: darbyfish50@gmail.com Gary: gcfisher1962@gmail.com |

Lent 2024: “Where did all the young people go?”Wednesday, February 28, 2024 For decades we’ve been wondering and worrying about our young people leaving our beloved church. For 4 Wednesday mornings this Lent, join Bp Anna and Rev Christine to explore the social, spiritual, religious and theological movements of the late 20th century. What happened in the wake of the great optimism of the 1960’s? Why haven’t any of the many approaches we’ve tried to engage young people over the decades worked in the long term? And finally, what are some of the emerging ideas and practices of 21st century Christianity and beyond? Where might we go from here? Dates: Wed. Feb 28, March 6, 13, 20 Time: 9:45am - Coffee and light snacks; 10:00-11:30am program To access the Zoom event, click here. Marlon to retire later this year
We heard from Marlon last Sunday, with sadness, that he is resigning from his position as Music Director at St. George's Church, effective August 26, 2024. In his letter, he wrote: "I have given much thought and consideration to my decision. While I immensely enjoyed my stay at St. George's, I believe this is the right time for me to take the opportunity to lay the foundations for what could be the last phase of my musical career, the return to musical performances... I am forever grateful for the congregation who have treated me as family since I joined the church. I am also blessed and thankful for the opportunity to work with a devoted and talented choir and with the music ministry as a whole and I am proud fo the progress we have made together... It has been an honour and privilege to have contributed my musical talents to this church. Thank you again for twelve wonderful years of serving with you and for all the beautiful memories I will carry with me all my life." We are so grateful for the many great gifts Marlon has shared with us over the years, and we will miss him tremendously. Over the coming months, we will celebrate Marlon's ministry with us and begin work on next steps. |

Joint Appeal for GazaFrom Archbishops Hosam and Justin Welby In the media over these past few weeks, we have watched the ongoing armed-conflict between the Hamas-led Palestinian militant groups and Israel from afar. Archbishop Justin Welby (the Archbishop of Canterbury) paid a solidarity visit to Jerusalem this past weekend in the aftermath of the conflict erupting, and immediately following the bombing of (the Anglican) Ahli Hospital in Gaza. Together with Archbishop Hosam Elias Naoum (Bishop Coadjutor of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem) these two Archbishops have issued a Joint Appeal Letter, calling for prayers and donations not only for the hospital's vital work in Gaza, but also for the ministries throughout the Holy Land which are also being greatly affected by the war. To that end, please find attached a joint appeal letter. There is also a situation update and a recent photograph of the two Archbishops in front of St. George's Cathedral. Anglicans around the world have been asked to disseminate the appeal letter with their photograph as widely as possible. The PWRDF is also appealing for support of the hospital in Gaza. To learn more, CLICK HERE. Thank you for passing along this information and for your prayers and support. We continue to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and for security for all who dwell in its lands. For more infomation visit:
