The Rev. Elizabeth Barnard became the Rector at St. George's in August 2017. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from St. Olaf College in Minnesota, and earned her Masters of Divinity in 2004 at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific, a member school of the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California. Elizabeth was ordained to the priesthood in the Diocese of California in 2008. She has served as a hospital chaplain at San Francisco General Hospital, the trauma center for San Francisco, and as a volunteer chaplain with the Episcopal Ministry at Solano/California State Prison in Vacaville, CA, and the San Francisco County Jail system. In 2014, Elizabeth moved to Montreal to attend McGill University and complete a Masters in Religious Studies with Specialization in Biomedical Ethics. While in Montreal, she served as the Parish Priest at St. Andrews and St. Mark’s in Dorval. Rev. Elizabeth also has a keen interest in environmental issues and has been a chairperson on the Stewardship of the Environment Committee in the Diocese of Montreal.
Rev. Elizabeth lives in Victoria with her wife, Danelle, and their daughter, Asha.
