Patricia Johnson-Watts has graciously agreed to speak to us about her journey of healing.
Patricia is Wikeno from Rivers Inlet. She will be sharing her personal journey of healing from emotional and psychological trauma experienced during her nine years in residential school.
Patricia is registered in the Indigenous Education and Linguistic program at the University of Victoria where she is completing her Masters degree in Indigenous Language Revitalization. Her masters project is focused on helping silent Indigenous language speakers find their voice through healing.
The title of her project is: Lost Treasures: A Journey Back to Love. Her title reflects Survivors' losses of their childhood, their culture and the absence of love from their lives.
