We hope you will join us for the month of December as we observe Advent and lead up to the celebration of Christmas. Every year, St. George's endeavours to offer a wide variety of services accessible to all ages and types of worship, whether your prefer to quietly contemplate the coming change or proclaim it loudly through song. Everyone is welcome to join us at the table; the Advent season is a wonderful time to invite friends and family to celebrate the upcoming birth of Jesus. Our practice is to always offer our traditional 8AM Book of Common Prayer service through the whole season, for those who prefer. If you have any questions about the services, please contact Tara in the Church Office at 250-472-2090 or administrator@stgeorgecadborobay.ca.

Below is a full service schedule:

Advent 1: December 3

8:00am - Holy Eucharist (BCP)

10:00am - Contemplative Eucharist
A quiet service, without hymns, that will focus on contemplative prayer and "gazing at" (contemplatio; Latin from Greek) the Divine as we enter into the season of Advent.

Advent 2: December 10

8:00am - Holy Eucharist (BCP)

10:00 am - Children’s Christmas Pageant and Carols
At the 10AM service, join us for our annual Christmas Pageant and Carols. Our narrator and youth leaders will lead all the little animals, shepherds, and angels to Bethlehem to meet the infant Jesus. Bring your own costumes if you have them. Our regular 10AM service, including a Eucharist, will still be included in this service, but certain components may be shortened or altered to showcase the pageant.

Advent 3: December 17

8:00am - Holy Eucharist (BCP)

10:00am - Watch for the Light: Advent Readings and Carols
This unique service pays homage to the traditional Anglican Nine Lessons and Carols service (which leads us through the story of Jesus via nine Biblical readings interspersed with carols) but with a selection of modern readings, poetry, and prose. This service will be full of song and will offer the story of Jesus' birth from several different perspectives that are sure to delight and surprise.

Advent 4: December 24

8:00am - Holy Eucharist (BCP)

10:00am - Holy Eucharist (BAS)
The fourth candle in the Advent Wreath is lit as we prepare to conclude the Advent season.

4:30pm - Family Carols and a Children's Story
A fun way to celebrate Christmas Eve for the whole family, this lively service is filled with music! Children and adults of all ages are invited to hear the story of Jesus' birth from the beginning when when the angel Gabriel visits Mary, right through to Jesus' birth in Bethlehem, and the special visits from the shepherds and the magi. This is a wonderful way to teach your children the Christmas story, with lots of opportunity for singing between short, dramatic readings of the story. There will be no Eucharist at this service.

7:30pm - Festive Christmas Eve Celebration
Gather for the Nativity of our Lord in this festive, musical service that marks the coming of Jesus on the night before his birth. All ages are welcome, but there will be no Sunday School offered during this service. This service will feature singing by candle-light and a Eucharist.

Christmas Day: December 25

10:00am – Christmas Day Eucharist (BAS)
The Lord is here! Celebrate the birth of Jesus with song and prayers of thanks. We'll light the final candle on our Advent Wreath: The Christ Candle. This service will include carols and a Eucharist.
