Housing for couple needed

Housing for couple needed

"... on behalf of a Tibetan couple from northeastern India who arrived in Canada seven years ago. I was part of a group of five who sponsored them. Another sponsor provided them with a room in her condo as her contribution. After a year, all three were happy to continue the arrangement and Sonam and Nima paid rent from then on. About two weeks ago, their landlady/sponsor died suddenly. Sonam and Nima are now in need of a one bedroom space to rent. Both of them work near downtown so bus access is important. They are the most generous, responsible people you can imagine. They can afford about $1000/month. With luck, this will be an interim solution for them as they will be looking for a place to buy. Both of them speak and understand English, though not perfectly. It isn't always easy to get in touch with them, so anyone with a possible space could call or email me: Dorothy Field, 250-385-7692, dotter@seaside.net. I'm happy to answer any questions anyone might have."

Racism in Greater Victoria: Report Released

Racism in Greater Victoria: Report Released

“People seem to think that there is no racism here but the only people I’ve heard that from are White folks who tend to spin it as, ‘well it wasn’t really racism… they were just overreacting’. Having our experiences of racism belittled and dismissed does even more harm.”
